Mission

The Birdsnake Symposium for Combined Multidisciplinary Advancement — or as some may call it, the Birdsnake Symposium for Circuitry, Music, and Artistry — lives at the seam between technology and sound. We design experiments that turn ideas into instruments, code into conversation, and patterns into playable experiences. If it hums, swings, or compiles, it belongs here.

We prefer building to explaining. Our work blends curious engineering with improvisational thinking to create tools that invite listening, tinkering, and discovery. Some of these artifacts look like gadgets. Some behave like etudes. All of them aim to make practice feel more like play.

BSCMA is intentionally opaque. We publish prototypes, field notes, and odd machines, then refine what resonates. Labels are optional. Results are audible.

Guiding principles

  1. Curiosity: Ask better questions. Follow the sound. Instrument the process.
  2. Adaptability: Ship small. Iterate fast. Let the groove and the data steer.
  3. Resilience: Feedback is a feature. Break, tune, repeat until it sings.

We are steadily assembling a cabinet of circuits, algorithms, and playable systems that encourage deeper listening and sharper intuition. You might call them coaches or companions. We just call them useful.
